【Achievement】Scaffold-Assisted Window Junctions for Superconducting Qubit Fabrication
Ccongratulations! In collaboration with Nobel Laureate John Martinis, Assistant Research Fellow Chung-Ting Ke, Assistant Research Specialist Yen-Chun Chen, Distinguished Research Fellow Chii Dong Chen, and the Thematic Center for Quantum Computer have published their research in npj Quantum Information.
To scale up quantum computing, the team developed an industrial-compatible, lift-off-free "Window Junction" process for qubit fabrication. This method utilizes a temporary SiO2 scaffold to define Josephson junctions, which is cleanly etched away using vapor HF to prevent dielectric loss. The resulting qubits achieved an impressive relaxation time of up to 57 μs.
