Solar Cell Technology Briefing Kicks Off with Enthusiasm, Building a Green Energy Future through Academia-Industry Collaboration
On the afternoon of March 26, 2025, the Research Center for Critical Issues at Academia Sinica held the "Next-Generation High-Efficiency Solar Cell Technology Consortium Briefing" at its Southern Campus. The event attracted nearly 60 representatives from Taiwan's solar energy industry, including major domestic solar cell manufacturers and materials suppliers. The atmosphere was vibrant and interactive, with a full house, reflecting the industry's strong interest and expectations for high-efficiency perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell technology.
The briefing opened with remarks from Dr. Chao-Huang Lee, Director of the Research Center for Critical Issues, followed by a presentation from Research Fellow Dr. Tsung-Fang Guo, who introduced Academia Sinica’s latest breakthrough achieving over 31% power conversion efficiency. He also introduced the advanced facilities at the Southern Campus for thin film characterization and device efficiency measurement. The event further elaborated on the vision for establishing a "Tandem Solar Cell R&D Consortium," aiming to accelerate the maturation and commercialization of the technology through academia-industry collaboration.
Participants actively engaged in the Q&A session, showcasing the industry’s strong enthusiasm for technological cooperation and application. Academia Sinica hopes that this consortium platform will help foster Taiwan’s strategic positioning in next-generation solar technologies and jointly advance the transformation and upgrading of the country’s green energy industry.
